Reliance Jio has explained that its True 5G network can help improve the battery backup of smartphones by as much as 40%. As Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm, explained, this is possible thanks to Jio’s implementation of so-called standalone (SA) architecture, intelligent spectrum orchestration and advanced solutions such as artificial intelligence optimization of the network. This offers the benefit of bandwidth variation according to the applications, enhancing both performance as well as power consumption optimally.
Intelligent System With a Standalone Architecture
While others use the 4G network and are therefore called non-standalone access – where naturally having to spend the write-off time building on competing 4G technologies Infrastructure, Reliance Jio’s SA model only uses the 5G network. It works on three bands of frequencies: the 700 MHz band for the coverage of rural areas, the 3.5 GHz band for the coverage of urban areas, and the 26 GHz band for the ultra-reliant capacity. Moreover, this SA strategy, in conjunction with special network slicing and green traffic management, accounts for Jio’s optimistic promises about battery improvement.

New Capabilities Enrich the Quality of Network and Voice Calls
Reliance Jio has integrated VoNR that improves voice quality, decreases the call setup time and enhances security as well. Other technology includes User Equipment carrier aggregation, AI & ML-based beamforming, Time division duplex (TDD) interference management in the bands. With these advancements, the users of Jio True 5G will not only receive faster internet but also an much improved battery output as well.
