Key executives are leaving Netflix as the company realigns its leadership

Netflix has announced that two key executives, Dean Garfield, vice president of global public policy, and Rachel Whetstone, chief communications officer, will soon be leaving the company. The departures are part of a leadership transition, as Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos is currently recruiting for a newly created position: head of global content. The position aims to combine public policy and communications management under one executive officer.

Reasons for leadership change

According to sources, no candidate for the role of the new global affairs chief has yet been determined. Insiders pointed out Garfield’s lack of negotiating experience, while Whetstone chose not to pursue the position, leading to the decision to vacate the position.
